About Us!

The vision behind Always Promoting Independence began in a kitchen — but even earlier in the heart of a devoted family member. When Dar-Lyn Pribble struggled to find the right agency to support her loved one with a disability, she encountered a fragmented and impersonal system. Rather than accept inadequate care, she chose to act.

Dar-Lyn educated herself by attending training courses offered by the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) and immersed herself in the field, becoming a behavior assistant and a supported living coach. Her hands-on experience across multiple agencies revealed the need for something better: a model of care rooted in commitment, compassion, and community.

In 2007, she left her corporate job and established Always Promoting Independence. With just two staff members and her kitchen as the first office, she set out to build an agency that delivers exceptional services while uplifting both the individuals served and the team supporting them.

Today, under Dar-Lyn’s leadership, API has grown into a vibrant organization of over 67 dedicated professionals. Her unwavering standards and passion for improvement have made API a trusted leader in Florida’s Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and APD provider network.
